Gazette No 82

The Girl I Used To Be

I’m not old - don’t call me old -

I’m just an antique little girl - that’s all I am.

I don’t exactly want to be wiped and dusted

As other antiques.

But I do want to be treasured, adored

And kept on show by those who love me -

Not with all these wrinkles,

But for everyone to see -

The girl I used to be!

Believe Me!

If you want to take life easy,

With nothing much to do,

I can tell you this much,

Retirement’s not for you!

Since I retired twelve years ago,

There’s been little time for rest.

Yet, when I think of my life’s journey,

These years are up there with the best!

Adam And Eve

Created from nothing

was Adam, by God,

then Eve from his rib,

but I think it quite odd,

when their pictures are painted

they’re shown just like us:

In the midst of their bellies...

an umbilicus!
